Abstract
This case is about Dragonfly, a midsize company reselling software and services, which appointed a new manager for its manufacturing Business Unit. The mission of the new manager was to improve the positioning of Dragonfly within the Italian Advanced Technology Company (IATCo), a large international group that Dragonfly had been servicing for several years. The case introduces the change readiness concept, proceeds with the description of Dragonfly and its manufacturing team, continues with the description of Italian Advanced Manufacturing Company and finally describes two proposals made by the Dragonfly Manufacturing Team. Students are asked to measure the Change Readiness of the Italian Advanced Technology Company with respect to the two proposals. The evaluation needs to be conducted adopting an original approach formulated by the author. Students are encouraged to understand how the Readiness of an environment is achieved not only through economical and structural aspects but also by cultural ones, instrumental in decision making.
